HOLTON, Elva Irene

ELVA IRENE HOLTON,   daughter of Austin and Artie Holton, near Kingman, Fountain  county, was born October 3, 1911 and died September 7, 1914, at the age of 2 years,  11 months and 4 days.  Death came as the only relief after a week of acute illness. Although she suffered intense agony scarcely a whimper ever escaped her.  She bore her pain with the fortitude of one many times her age.  All that parental love and medical science could accomplish were to no avail;  for the Master, who gave her was pleased to reclaim her innocent little soul, and her brief visit with us was ended abruptly at His call.  She was exceptionally bright, and always impressed one as being much older than her tender years would indicate.  She was of a happy playful disposition; a sweet tempered playmate and an ever-loving daughter.  Her departure has left in the lives of little sister and parents a gap, which nothing can fill.   Only in the belief that she has gone from the land of woe to that better land above where there is no sickness, pain or death, do the bereaved ones take consolation.  The funeral services  were conducted at the Methodist church in Newport, Wednesday, by Rev. John S. Brown  of that place.  Then her remains were laid to rest in the Newport cemetery. -s
